The History of the Delta Mu Chapter
Camrata Club, 1948
In 1946 the Camerata Club was founded at TCU in hopes of one day converting the club into a chapter of Phi Mu Alpha. During their exsistence the Camerata Club hosted numerous recitals and created the fraternal feeling that still exsists today. In the spring of 1948 the 24 members of the Camerata Club created a petition to the supreme council of Phi Mu Alpha and on May 21, 1948 the Delta Mu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha at Texas Christian University was chartered. Since being chartered 58 years ago the Delta Mu chapter has kept up with the ideals that the gentlemen of the Camerata Club set forth. Now with 16 members Phi Mu Alpha is more present on the TCU campus than ever before. The Delta Mu Chapter hosts recitals and goes out into the community and spreads the effect of music to numerous people. Sinfonians are present in all departments of the TCU School of Music, and their ideals and principles strengthen the areas that they are in. Delta Mu is a tradition and a strong presence at TCU, and the chapter is in a good position to last another 58 years.
